Where do you work and what makes your role awesome?
I work for Kahler Slater, an architecture, interior design, and environmental branding firm in Milwaukee. I feel very fortunate to love what I do and love where I work. I am continuously challenged and passionate about all things design. The best part is meeting new people and working to bring their vision to reality—to be able to see the world from someone else’s point of view and transform a space makes this profession awesome.

What do you love most about MKE?
I love the neighborhoods. Milwaukee is full of unique urban districts that have distinct character. They all contribute to the culture of this city and I love exploring and discovering new places–even though I have lived here almost my entire life.

What is your biggest hope for this city?
My biggest hope for Milwaukee is to keep our homegrown young talent. Milwaukee is an amazing place to live; the downtown skyline is continuing to transform, transportation networks are being formed, a major sports and entertainment district is about to come online, and urban lifestyle housing is abundant. To keep this city vibrant, we need to encourage young talent to stay here or return when they’re ready to put down roots.

What is your favorite MKE tradition?
Two things: Beer and fish fry. I grew up in a household that religiously followed the Friday night fish fry tradition and I am keeping the ritual going with my own family. In terms of Milwaukee’s drink of choice, it is very exciting to see the explosion of local breweries and beer gardens in the recent years. Our favorite spot is Good City Brewing, a local spot rooted in the neighborhood where I met my husband and now we bring our family there. They have great food too!

What neighborhood do you live in and why do you love it?
My husband and I are raising our family in Wauwatosa. We love the walkability, bikeability, and local businesses. We frequent the coffee shops and restaurants, and it’s all so family friendly. One of our favorite places this time of year is the farmer’s market in Tosa Village. You can fill up on fresh produce and take advantage of the small booths that feature local MKE restaurants.
