Lt. Governor Mandela Barnes to Speak at Political Open Mic Tomorrow
Free Event Hosted by NEWaukee and Bridge the City to Include Speakers from BLOC, Democracy Found, Marquette Democracy Lab and Fair Elections Project
Milwaukee, Wisc. September 16, 2019 — With the 2020 US presidential election almost a year away, NEWaukee and Bridge the City Podcast are collaborating to host a Political Open Mic on the topic of voting. The free, public event will take place on Tuesday, September 17th from 6:00-8:00pm at Third Space Brewing located at 1505 W St Paul Ave, Milwaukee, WI.
Lt. Governor Mandela Barnes will introduce the program. Featured speakers will include Angela Lang, Executive Director of Black Leaders Organizing for Communities (BLOC); Sachin Chheda, Director of Fair Elections Project; Sara Eskrich, Executive Director and Andy Nunemaker, Board Member of Democracy Found; and Amber Wichowsky, Ph.D., Director of Marquette Democracy Lab.
The non-partisan event will give residents, elected officials, nonprofit leaders, and the business community a platform to share solutions to the challenges our communities face around voting.
At the end of the event, there will be an open mic for audience members to share their own ideas.
