In this Shift session, we explore what it is like to be the only or one of the only women in the room at work, as well as the ways women keep one another from advancing.
According to the Women in the Workplace report, “About 1 in 5 women says they are often an ‘Only,’ and this experience is about twice as likely for senior-level women. By comparison, only 5 percent of men are often the only or one of the only men in the room.” The result of this is a more notably difficult experience at work. How are we navigating microaggressions and scrutiny, as well as committing to pulling those who look like us along with us rather than coveting opportunity?
